Faith Community Nurse Ministry

The Faith Community Nurse Ministry at Christ Community Church encourages men, women and children of our congregation to optimize their health in acknowledgment of Christian responsibility as stewards of one’s being. The ministry emphasizes holistic wellness, the harmony of mind, body and spirit. The Faith Community Nurse Ministry goal is a healthy Christian Community that is both a model and channel of Jesus’ healing love.

Jesus was a healer who intended that we live life to its fullest, “I have come that they may have life, and may have it in all its fullness.” (John 10:10)

What is a Faith Community Nurse??

A Faith Community Nurse is a Registered Nurse with special training in health ministry. The Faith Community Nurse (FCN) commits herself to health promotion of the faith congregation. The ministry is designed to help meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of the whole person in achieving wellness.

The Faith Community Nurse Serves as :

… an educator
To promote an understanding of the relationship between lifestyle attitudes, faith and well-being;

… a resource
to provide a link to community resources and services;

… an advocate
to assist individuals and the community to procure needed health services and support;

… a counselor/consultant
to provide a listening ear and guidance in regards to health problems;

… a facilitator
to encourage the utilization of skills, gifts and talents in service to the health needs of others.

Who Is Our Faith Community Nurse?

The Faith Community Nurse (FCN) at Christ Community Church is Mitzi King. Mitzi is a licensed Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. In addition she has special training and certification as a Faith Community Nurse. Mitzi currently works as an Advice Nurse in the Appointment and Advice Call Center for Kaiser Permanente. She is a member of Health Ministries Association, the national organization for Faith Community Nurses.
